Raw Aura, a Port Credit organic vegan restaurant, which opened in 2009 has been named one of the Top 10 Canadian restaurants to have opened in the said year. The national magazine Where honoured Raw Aura, noting that, “It’s hard to imagine why anyone would want to open an organic vegan eatery in a city so dominated by (and seemingly beholden to) chain restaurants. Yet that is the laudable anomaly represented by Raw Aura, which, true to its name, offers a menu of entirely raw cuisine — the better to emphasize the natural and nourishing properties of fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouts.”

This restaurant is about as untraditional as it goes. No meat. No dairy. No gluten and nothing is cooked. The menu is quite lengthy with Raw menu items such as Beet Ravioli, Zucchini Burrito and Raw pizza. Their wide array of desserts are a must try too! If you’ve never tried a raw dessert, you’ll notice that the flavours of the ingredients seem more pungent, stronger & tastier.

A little pricier than your standard restaurant but it’s about the quality of food, with most being organic.  Plus they get a premium for the creativity behind these dishes. Give it a try!
